by Emily and Ben
We met at University whilst studying the same course, however it took three years to get together. The proposal was the most romantic thing Ben ever did. He took me away for a long weekend and whilst staying at a beautiful hotel in the Cotswolds, and going for a late afternoon stroll along the canal he sat me down and handed me a scroll. He said the following words to me 'I want you to read our fairytale'. He had written a whole story dedicated to how we met and at the end of the story he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The story was so beautiful and precious that my brother read it out during our wedding ceremony. Therefore Ben definitely is the most romantic one.
We had an idea in our minds. We wanted an exclusive venue with lovely views. We visited 15 in total but when we came to Manor Hill we just knew. The grounds were stunning, the staff were so accommodating and it was like our dream place. A home from home.
Our theme was of course Christmas and we picked it because we both love that time of year. I made my own decorations such as the Christmas jars. We wanted a lot of lights to make it feel Christmassy.
The whole meal was fantastic! The personal aspect was how the chef managed to change a Christmas turkey dinner into an elegant dish. It was gorgeous.
The dress shopping was the best part. People always say when you know, you know. My sister and mum travelled up from Bournemouth and it was the second shop (Wed2be) and fourth dress I tried on. I loved it so much I never wanted to take it off. I even wore it again whilst making Christmas dinner. The bridesmaids dresses were really easy as well. A bargain from Amazon and they were the perfect colour. Ben was the fussy one. It took him three weeks to find his perfect suits but he eventually found them from Paul Costelloe (a great sign as it's now my surname)
On the evening we had the casino tables from Club 21 Fun Casino which were fantastic! We were recommended them by the venue and we were not disappointed. They added an extra element to our already perfect day!
The florist was amazing! Clare made beautiful table decorations of Christmas wreaths and my bouquets were stunning. The cake was made to fit the Christmas theme full of presents and snowflakes.
The most memorable part of the day was seeing each other just before Emily walked down the aisle, but to be honest the whole day was just pure perfection. Everything was just perfect!
Our photographer was from Bluefinch Photography who were fabulous and our favourite picture is when Ben and I are looking at each other just before we say our vows. We just look so happy!
