by Julie and Andew
Andy and l have been together for 3 years and hit it off from the moment we met, it was definitely love at first sight. Andy’s cheeky smile won me over.
Andy proposed to me Christmas 2015 with a Christmas card he had made for me, l have never been so shocked in my whole life. I opened my present’s and he gave me a card, which I thought was odd as he had already given me my Christmas card. It was a beautiful card saying 'Andrew asked will you marry me and Julie said yes' with a picture of a couple and a ring, and of course l said YES as he is everything to me and my best friend.
We got on the internet and searched local wedding venues near us. We made appointments to view a few but nothing seemed just right for us. Feeling a bit disheartened we started searching the internet again and the first thing that came up was Manor Hill House, it looked beautiful and just what we were looking for so we booked a viewing the following weekend.
We were very excited that Sunday as we headed off to our viewing, and we were not disappointed. As we pulled in to the gates of Manor Hill House I knew this was the place but I was worried money would be our downfall.
We were greeted by Emma who was so lovely, she showed us round and let us know everything that they had to offer, l was in love with the building and just felt right at home there. We took a seat in the sitting room while Emma made us a coffee and we sat there saying that it was just the perfect place for us to become Mr & Mrs.
We were very pleasantly surprise that everything we wanted was going to be in our budget so we pencilled our date in and left on cloud nine.
I knew l was going to be making all my own wedding stationary and wedding bits so l got straight on with my planning. I had brought a birdcage a few weeks before we got engaged and loved it so decided that birds and birdcages was going to be our theme. We went with navy blue and ivory for our colour scheme but can’t remember how that came about. So the making started from save the dates, invitations, table decorations, favours, confetti cones, place cards, table plan, you name it l made it.
The only thing l was never sure about was my cake as its such an important part of the wedding, and as l make cakes l decided l want to make my own. I made loads but was never quiet happy with them and always got very stressed when doing it. So one day Andy said he didn’t want me to be making my own cake a few days before the wedding as we have more that enough to be doing so he booked a lady to make it. It was a friend of Andy’s brother and we had only every heard good things about her, so Andy sorted it all. One night l was looking at the picture of the cake that Andy had picked and I knew it wasn’t what I wanted. I’d dreamed off this beautiful birdcage cake which we just couldn’t afford. So that night l messaged Katie from Katie’s Cakes and explained that I was really worried about the cake. She was so understanding and amazing and we passed messages and pictures back and forth until we came up with my dream cake with in our budget. When the cake arrived on the wedding day l was blown away with it, it was so perfect and Katie was so lovely.
We didn’t really use any other suppliers as I did everything my self, apart from Andy’s friend did my bouquet and button holes as I wanted real one’s for that. Everyone else had fake flowers that l made myself.
So what was a funniest moment at the wedding, well that would be me when I seemed to forget my husband to be’s name and just went with his middle name, everyone was in stitched and I couldn’t get my words out after that
